India Population 2011 - Facts
India is at number two among world's highest population countries.According to provisional 2011 Census report,India's population is now pegged at 1.21 billion, an increase of more than 181 million in the last 10 years.
Census report 2011 has revealed many facts like literacy rate, sex ratio, birth control rate,state with highest and lowest population etc. I have collected some of the interesting facts that you would like to know.Below are facts from Census Report 2011 :-
1) The population has increased by more than 181 million during the decade 2001-2011.Though growth rate is decresed.Growth rate in 2011 is 17.64 per cent in comparison to 21.15 per cent in 2001.
2) The population comprising 623.7 million males and 586.5 million females is almost equal to the combined population of the United States, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Japan put together.
3) Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state with 199 million people and Lakshadweep the least populated at 64,429.
4) The combined population of UP and Maharashtra is bigger than that of the US.
5) The highest population density is in Delhi's north-east district (37,346 per sq km) while the lowest is in Dibang Valley in Arunachal Pradesh (just one per sq km).
6) The literacy rate is 74.04 %.It is increased 9.21 per cent as compared to 2001 when it was 64.83 % . Literacy rate for males rose from 75.26 to 82.14 per cent imprinting a climb of 6.9 per cent, it augmenting by 11.8 per cent for females to go from 53.67 to 65.46 per cent.
7) Child sex ratio in 2011 is 914 female against 1,000 male--the lowest since Independence.Haryana’s Jhajjar (774 females) as well as Mahendragarh (778 females) districts have a lowest sex ratio measure while Lahul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh has a top sex comparative measure (1,013 females).
