UberMedia planning Twitter competitor
The owner of many popular appilcations "UberMedia" is planning to build a social network platform that could compete with that popular microblogging platform Twitter.
According to CNN, plan is to attract the users which complaints about Twitter like restriction on the length of a message and how it can be confusing to newcomers.
UberMedia has acquired a number of high-profile Twitter clients in the past few months and is quickly building itself into a third-party powerhouse. The company raised $17.5 million in funding in February, following rumors that it is in talks to acquire third-party juggernaut TweetDeck.
CNN reports that a recent Twitter memo downplays the role app developers have in the site’s massive success, and encourages them to build more varying software that doesn’t so closely resemble the site itself. This didn’t play over well with developers, and given a choice between Twitter and a more sympathetic platform, it’s easy to believe there could be quite a few defectors.
Ubermedia could run a parallel social network with Twitter and provide some more applications for its users.Also a feature could be added that users services can sync with a Twitter account and communicate with users on both networks, while also taking advantage of new social network only features.
